Well I'm finally getting off my rear end to blog about the Engagement Party. Oh-my-effing-goodness. I don't think it could've gone any better if we tried.
We would like to thank each and every one of you that came, sent your well wishes or even just thought about us on Friday.
Toledo was a swish little establishment, set up for all our Engagement Party needs, a big thanks goes out to the mums and nans who helped with all the party food. You did a truly magnificent job!
The cake - My Auntie Gaye completely outdid herself with this one. It looked absolutely marvelous and we are very grateful that she took all that time out of her own busy days to make such a creation for us.
You have showered us with many gifts, goodness me I was weepy when we were reading through the cards the following morning. Thank-you cards will be shipped out to you all soon - This weekend has a whole lot of not much on so I believe that is what we shall be doing during the day.
Now our little surprise at our speeches... how did you like that? Some of you had already started to work it all out (due to my lack of consumption of alcohol) but the reaction from the crowd was still brilliant - We are having baby number two... How exciting.
Once again, thank you from Simon, Myself and Charlie - we really do know that we are very-much-so loved.
Photos are going up on the gallery page at the moment, it may take me a little while because I'm still gathering photos from different people from the night. I'll probably update some photos on this post at some point also, to make it look cooler!
Love love

When you are young, slightly crazy and completely mad for someone - it makes sense to get married. It also helps if that someone asks you if you would like to infact get married, otherwise it's just wishful thinking. Lucky I got asked...

Nearly time to Pardy
People, in less than 4 hours we will be partying it up! Please be excited by this. I am! Also please check back here tomorrow evening... I will have many wonderful photos of you all dancing and being merry up in the photo albums page.
Also a quick note, I have organised a meeting with who I hope will be my marriage celebrant. This excites me ten-fold (which today equates to a very large amount).
So yes, meeting up with Gail Eaton-Briggs next Wednesday and hopefully she will help us organise the rest of the whole shebang!
Hmm, that's it... just a quick update today. Woo!

Oh-so-musically-inclined
So I feel I have managed to conquer the playlist for tomorrow night. The ladies may like it more than the guys... just drink a few more beers and pretend you like it if you don't OK?
Anyways back to the day at hand, also today I have been an amazing Domestic Goddess and cleaned most of the house, cooked up one-hell-of-a Red Thai Chicken Curry, and managed to remove excess hair from my arms and legs so I feel as smooth as a baby's bottom. Simon doesn't know how freaking lucky he is sometimes.
It has made me realise how very difficult it is actually going to be when we get married to pick a song to get married too. I mean I already know what our first dance will be.... but the ceremony bit? Bit scary.
Also chatting to Cara at work today (after she let me borrow her wedding DVD) I have realised so far I have been a bit lazy with my organising thus far. I seem to be in a "I'll bother with all of this next year" kind of mode but really wont be able to do that because most of the good stuff will be taken by then.
This list begins with a Marriage Celebrant. Which I have promised myself I will call tomorrow on my lunch break and make an appointment to meet her over coffee.

E-Day. It looms.
So we are fast approaching the big Engagement Party date. I sure hope you've steam-ironed your party dresses and asked mum to remove that strange stain on your slacks that you're sure was sauce from a midnight-food-run last time you hit Hobart, because everything is in full swing.
Balloons - Organised.
Food - Organised.
Playlist - Getting there (and taking requests, if you want to hear a song - that wont make our ears bleed - please let me know and I'll consider putting it on our list!)
Bride and Groom to be - Still arguing over what we are going to wear.
So yes. If you are heading along (which we sure hope you are) we'll be doing our speeches and cutting the cake around 8.30pm (because the DJ will start at 9pm) so as long as you have your beautiful selves there before hand we wont disown you all.
Get ready to get drunk, get dancey and get all around happy-happy this Friday night (there will be NO Rebecca Black even because we party on the same nights she does).

Engagements Galore
So this past weekend Simon and I were lucky enough to be invited to our good friends Simmone and Alex's engagement party.
Well, what a swell time we had. Drinking, Dancing and snacking away on nibbles. It's just how I imagine my own party to be... except maybe with less of Simmone and Alex's family there and more of mine and Simon's.
So congratulations Simmone and Alex. Your speeches were great, your cake was great, and Charlie really liked the left over balloons you let us take home for him!
The other big event of the weekend was Charlie's First birthday party. Wowee what a lucky little man we have. He is seriously one of the most loved people I know. People came from far and near to help us celebrate and I am very grateful to each and every one of you.
Still working the finer things out for next weekend. I hope you're all as excited as I am!

Under the weather
Well yes it has been a few weeks since my last post - but really I do have 2 years worth of blogging to waste your time with and ultimately there have been a few nasty things happening at our house which has kind of preoccupied my time.
The first is Gastro. Don't get it. It is the shits. Literally. And when Bugg goes down, then Simon goes down and finally I go down, it leaves us with a very unhappy household.
I ask you, whoever invented the Gastro bug was a right old bastard. It is awful.
By a box of Hydralite icy-poles and a few recovery days later and we all seem to be back on our feet. Thank goodness.
Speaking of being back on our feet I haven't officially informed the world that Charlie can walk! On his own! This is way cool but he always seems to sit down right as I get the camera out. So currently there is no YouTube proof of this frequent occurrence.

The second is the fact that we have a new family member. I've mentioned it on Facebook but I'm certain I haven't put it on here. He is named Rusty and he's is pretty cool so far as cats go.
I'm certain he and Charlie and going to be best friends and get up to alot of mischief when I'm not looking.
Thirdly, I have been preparing for Bugg's birthday - it is on Thursday (No, I cannot believe he has been around for a year either) and on Saturday we are having our family party.
These are the invites I have made for the occasion. I could be all coy and pretend they are no good so you can give me compliments but the truth is I'm really proud of them so I wont do that.
And the last thing that has been filling my left over grey matter, is the final preparations for this Engagement Party. It really isn't that far away (and so if you haven't already formally RSVP'd to me, please do so ASAP, I'm starting to tear my hair out panicking that I wont have enough food for you all.)
So the things I have left to organise - balloons, food, and yes that is about it.
Pretty happy with the effort so far. I enjoy being busy.
I shall leave you with the picture I promised of Charlie in his Christening Gown. He truly is my bald little angel. Gawd I love him (as do his various admirers.)

Breakfast, Business Cards and Blossoming Brides
So we have attacked the Bridal Expo 2011 and have won. I feel this is a great achievement. Not only were my loyal bridesmaid's brilliant, but my love for this crazy state-of-mind that is wedding-planning has been indulged.
To begin with we had breakfast and it was nice, casual and an interesting way to start the day. This lovely meeting occurred at Dome in town - and may I remind you (as I sure didn't realise until I was nearly crashing into a closed roller-door) that Argyle Street Car park doesn't open til at least 9am or something on Sundays.
Afterwards we headed on out to the DEC, and at 10am they opened the doors and all of the bride-to-be's and their trusty crews rushed in out of the freezing cold wind.
I had been warned by a friend not to work the Expo up in my mind too much for fear of being let down. And I must say this was brilliant advice. As we were walking in I could see that there were plenty of stalls to look at (although not as many as I would have originally thought there to be) and there were lots of coordinators willing to tell you all about who they were and what they were up to.
The main thing I was after were Celebrants and to be honest there weren't as many as I would've liked! And there were so many photographers... they're work was all equally beautiful - I'm not sure what we'll do in that department later on.
Finally as we managed to get samples of cake, business cards for heaps of people (most of which I didn't really need but it was fun to take anyway) brochures, magazines and pamphlets we got prime seats right up the back and dead centre for the Fashion Parade.
And I'm lucky we did - IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME! I'm excited to say that The Dress is now one of many The Dresses. Oh what ever am I going to do??!
That is all. I'm so tired. I'm going to bed now! Although I may take a bridal magazine with me just to keep me happy.

Bridesmaids Galore
So I have known for quite some time who my bridesmaids would be. If Groomblogger would pull his socks up and tell his Groomsmen who they are I would've put it up here much sooner.
But well, since we've only got less than 12 hours till the Bridal Expo tomorrow I feel it is time I shared it formally with you all.
Looking to the left? Pretty much self-explanatory really.
Back: Chloe (sister) Me (awesome) Brooke (good friend)
Front: Tegan (cousin) Hannah (good friend).
These lovely ladies will be plodding along in true Bridesmaid fashion tomorrow when I get to see The Dress and I know they will all be 'Oooh'ing and 'Ahh'ing in all the right places.
If you have been under a rock for the last few weeks (or if you haven't been around me to hear me prattle on about it) this is the website for the Bridal Expo tomorrow: The 2010 Bridal Expo.
I know I promised photos of Charlie's Christening BUT if you'll just let me explain. I've got the photos on Chloe's camera and no way of getting them off and onto my laptop til I get a cord from her. So there. But they do exist and they are REALLY nice I promise!
Love love

Return to Sender
Last night I was sitting around, minding my own business. Glad that finally all of my Engagement Party Invites (except the few for the packet of stamps I lost... Oh Kate and Wills where are you?) and I was just relaxing on the laptop when alas, my phone rings.
And on the other end of the line was the dearest little old lady.
And on the other end of the line was the dearest little old lady.
"Hello, is this Sarah Vorx?" (Yes that is how most people attempt to pronounce my name). She asks ever so politely. And that is pretty much how the conversation went. I have a feeling it kind of made her night. Also I have the pleasure of knowing some old lady out there thinks I have super awesome handwriting! Win!
"Uh, Yes this is Sarah" I reply cautiously.
"Oh good I'm glad I've reached you." I can hear her smile through the phone.
"Oh right" Still not overly convinced I am speaking with a sane person.
"You see, I have a letter here that is addressed to Miss Clare Butler and Miss Sarah Young but they don't live here - I live here and I have done for a long time so I think you've sent it to the wrong address dear."
A light comes on and suddenly what she is talking about makes sense. I've sent an invite to her by mistake. "Oh no! I think I have sent it to the wrong address I'm so sorry!"
"Oh dear that's alright, I just think your letter is just so beautifully written, I'm a bit of a perfectionist you see and you just don't see envelopes with such beautifully addressed names on them nowadays." I can tell she is impressed and I don't have the heart to tell her I've actually printed it on my computer - if she wants to believe I have the neatest handwriting of all time, I'm not going to stop her.
"Thank you for that!"
"That's alright dear - I looked at your name and tried to find you in the phone book but you weren't there-"
"Oh yes that's because we've only just moved into our house"
"And so I looked in the phone book for the other names and I found them and they gave me your number so I thought I'd give you a call." To be honest if I were her I would've just opened it - much easier way to get the details of the spaz who obviously doesn't know how to send a letter properly.
"I really appreciate you letting me know." I say, not really sure what else I should say, it is very nice of her to let me know instead of just throwing it in the bin.
"Now where would you like me to send it? Do you know their proper address?" Uh, the answer would be no - because obviously I haven't sent it to the right address the first time round.
"What if you just put an arrow to return to sender? That way I'll get it and then I can work out where to send it." I suggest.
"Yes that probably sounds best. We'll I'm sorry I've got to put my handwriting on your beautiful envelope but that way they'll know to send it back to you."
"OK great. Thank you very much for doing this!"
"Well I thought if you'd put so much effort into the writing that it must be for something important - is it for an Engagement party or something?" Yes - uh so much effort into organising a mail-merge. Whoops.
"Yep, that's what it's for actually!"
"Oh lovely, well I'm glad then. I'll send this back." She laughs.
"Thank you"
"You're very welcome"
"You enjoy the rest of your night." I smile and I hope she can hear it in my voice.
"You too! Goodnight"

Expo for Bridezillas
Hello friends,
I have been super lazy the last few weeks... Actually that's a load of crap I've really been super busy. Sick baby, massive works in the backyard and a sugar coma the length of April itself. Phew. I'm actually glad it is May.
Speaking of May - BRIDAL EXPO. Woohoo! This excites me so much. I have not really been excited for an expo ever so it is fun that I want to go a bit crazy here!
I have asked my Bridesmaids to come along (still not formally announced because Groomblogger still hasn't told his lot yet) and so we are heading for breakfast in the morning and then going to spend the day cake and wine tasting, checking out the dresses (in particular THE dress I have already had picked out for weeks) and avoiding the other Bridezillas in an attempt to make it out alive.
If you are not doing anything on said day (15th May 2011) you should head along, I think it is going to be super and for $8.50 entry that is really a pretty cheap super day.
Um. Yes. Charlie is being Christened this coming Sunday. It is also Mother's day so I hope I get something good.
Photos to come of both the new backyard and Bugg's Christening next week I feel. This should keep us going for a few more days to make me look like an active Blogger.
Night poppets,
xoxo
